CT REALTORS® 2023 Raymond F. Gates Jr. Memorial Scholarship Winners Announced

CT REALTORS® FOUNDATION AWARDS $58,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS - 2023 RAYMOND F. GATES, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED

EAST HARTFORD, CT (May 31, 2023) – The Connecticut REALTORS ® Foundation announced their 2023 Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship winners. The Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 in memory of Raymond F. Gates, Jr. following his tragic death in an automobile accident. Mr. Gates was the Executive Vice President of the Connecticut REALTORS®. Over the past 47 years, children of REALTORS ® have been awarded scholarships totaling more than $1,000,000.

For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Connecticut REALTORS® Foundation received more than 135 applications. This year, 59 outstanding children of CT REALTORS® were selected to receive a total of $58,000 in scholarships.

Greenwich REALTORS® is proud to announce 3 local recipients were among the 59 selected. Adem Murad, son of REALTOR®-Associate Ammar Murad of Coldwell Banker Realty in Greenwich, Sofia Pelle, daughter of Greenwich Association Staff member Deanna Pelle, and Ekaterina Ulyanov, daughter of REALTOR®-Associate Tatiana Ulyanov of Coldwell Banker.

Adem

Adem Murad studies at the University of Miami and is majoring in Economics and Finance. He is considering a career in commercial real estate. Adem has joined the Arabic Students Union along with the Alliance for Latin Students, the Real Estate Finance Association and is also taking part in the Bermont-Carlin Scholars Program. He is an Alpha Kappa Psi and was selected as a Project Destined intern from over 4,000 applicants. Adem is the son of REALTOR®-Associate Ammar Murad with Coldwell Banker Realty in Greenwich.

Sofia Pelle recently graduated from Greenwich High School and plans to attend UConn this Fall. While still undecided in her major, Sofia intends to go into the STEM field, possibly Data Science. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a Foreign Language Excellence Award winner and participated in the Model UN, Yearbook (currently serving as Sports Editor), Fashion and Social Justice Research Clubs. She has volunteered with Neighbor to Neighbor and Harvest Time Church and also worked at Little Friends preschool/daycare. Sofia is the daughter of Greenwich Association Staff member Deanna Pelle.

Ekaterina
Ekaterina Ulyanov
currently attends Williams College as a Physics major. While pursuing an academic career, she would like to find ways to make the physics field more accessible to historically underrepresented groups. Ekaterina works as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant for the Williams College Physics Department. She is also a Staff Writer for The Williams Record, the official newspaper of Williams College, as well as a member of the Society of Physics Students and Leader of Women and Gender Minorities in Physics and Astrophysics. Ekaterina is the daughter of REALTOR®-Associate Tatiana Ulyanov with Coldwell Banker Realty in Greenwich.
