The REALTOR® of the Year Award is the highest honor presented to a member and is based upon leadership and contributions made to the Greenwich Association of REALTORS®, Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS®, and the Greenwich community.

Maria has been a REALTOR® since 1991, and has been actively involved as a member of the Greenwich Association of REALTORS® Awards, Finance, and International Committees. In addition to her professional commitments, Maria graduated from William's College with a BA and Stanford University Graduate School of Business with an MBA, and speaks fluent Spanish, French and Portuguese. Maria is very fond of volunteering within her community. She has partaken in the Thread and Treads event; a 13 mile running/biking event, assisting with the coordination and set-up of the event. For five years, she participated in the William Raveis Walk/Ride; riding her bike 12 miles, in support of Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. With her passion for education, Maria volunteered at the Parkway School between 1994-1998, set-up the afters program and taught a Spanish class. Maria also volunteered at Greenwich High School for four years assisting with administrative duties.

Maria was presented with the award by Sally Parris, 2008 Realtor of the Year and 2015 GAR Hall of Fame inductee. "I personally know Maria to be a very caring, loving parent and individual who has had many challenges in her life and she has always stepped-up with sincere commitment and dedication to whatever task is at hand", stated Parris.

The award was announced to members at the GAR Annual Meeting on Friday, January 15th, which was hosted virtually for the first time ever in 97 years due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
