Early Childhood Programs Greenwich Public Schools Private Schools

There are many ways in which Greenwich offers the best of both worlds, and educational choice is one of them. Residents can enjoy the benefits of small-town life without sacrificing their own or their children’s scholastic needs. Families have a wide array of excellent places of learning, from preschool to adult continuing education, both public and private.

Our public schools are ranked among the best in Fairfield County and the nation, with above-average test scores. Greenwich students outperform their national peers on SAT and AP tests. But it’s not just the students who are high achievers. An impressive 87 percent of our public school teachers have master’s degrees.

There are over thirty preschools in Greenwich, most of them connected with our schools and churches, though several outstanding independent preschools have been operating here for years. Many Greenwich day-care centers also offer programs for preschool-age children.

The Greenwich public school system has a preschool, eleven elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), one alternative high school for students with special needs, and a high school (9-12). Elementary school enrollments range from 212 pupils at New Lebanon, to 497 at Riverside. Greenwich High School has 2,712 students.
